Smurfit Kappa and WestRock two major corrugated packaging companies brewing merger

On September 7, Smurfit Kappa, a corrugated packaging company listed in London but headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, stated that its board of directors is negotiating with WestRock, a corrugated packaging company listed in the United States, aiming to establish Smurfit WestRock, whose global headquarters will be located in Ireland, while the US operations will remain in Atlanta.

Smurfit Kappa said the new group, which will have total revenue of about $34 billion, plans to list on the New York Stock Exchange.
